Fund for Wild Nature Grant

The Fund for Wild Nature Grant empowers small non-profit organizations in Canada and the U.S. that prioritize the preservation of native species and ecosystems. With a biocentric approach, this grant supports innovative initiatives combating environmental degradation. Organizations must be tax-exempt and can only submit one proposal annually. The Fund for Wild Nature’s board is rooted in biocentrism and believes that native species and healthy ecosystems are too essential to be sacrificed. Wild areas are increasingly rare and under relentless pressure from a variety of threats. Yet these wild areas constitute the main reservoirs of biodiversity, and provide key scientific reference points for our understanding of the planet’s wondrous cycles of birth, life, death, and decay. Wild nature, and the native flora and fauna within, also provide priceless ecosystem services, including clean air, water, pollination, and climate regulation, which are vital to life on Earth.
Our goal is to fund groups that recognize the inherent value of wild places and work to preserve and protect natural systems. Hope for the future depends upon active, informed, and passionate people who defend wild nature. Our strength is in the groups we fund and the donors that give us the opportunity to invest in wild nature.

Eligibility

Funded organizations are required to be tax exempt non-profits under the federal tax laws of Canada or the United States (I.R.S. 501(c)(3) or the Canadian equivalent). We will only consider one proposal per year per grantee.In the event your organization decides to apply for a new grant shortly before the one year anniversary of your previous grant, you must submit your final report contemporaneously (or early) so that the board may evaluate the previous project.

Ineligibility

We do not fund projects outside Canada, the U.S.A or their federally recognized territories.We do not fund:basic scientific researchprivate land acquisitionfor-profit enterprisesindividual action or studyconferencesorganizations which receive ANY government funding or supportAlthough we commend the work of wildlife sanctuaries, wildlife rehabilitation facilities, botanical gardens, zoos, learning centers, and habitat restoration, these are beyond the scope of our mission and for that reason we do not fund this type of work. We do not consider proposals from organizations with annual budgets in excess of U.S. $250,000.
