Overview

Florida Small Business Emergency Bridge Loan Program

Overview: A short-term, interest-free loan program designed to help small businesses bridge the gap between the time of economic impact and when the business has secured long-term assistance (such as insurance claims or SBA loans).

Status: Program was activated March 16, 2020 in response to COVID-19 impacts. Application period was March 17, 2020 through May 8, 2020 (historical program).

Geographic Scope: Florida

Eligibility:

  • Small businesses with 2 to 100 employees

  • Located in Florida

  • Established prior to March 9, 2020

  • Must demonstrate economic injury as a result of COVID-19

    • Loan Terms:

  • Interest-free loans up to $50,000

  • Up to one-year terms

  • DEO works with borrowers to ensure repayment is not an overwhelming burden

    • Program Funding: Up to $50 million allocated for the program

  • In partnership with Florida SBDC Network and Florida First Capital Finance Corporation

    • Support Available: Florida SBDC business consultants available at no cost to assist with loan application process and COVID-19-related challenges

    Application Period: March 17, 2020 - May 8, 2020

    Application Methods:
    1. Apply online and upload required supporting documentation, or
    2. Download an application, complete it, and mail with required supporting documentation to:

    Important Notes:

  • Small businesses that have already applied should not submit an additional application

  • Response to the Business Damage Assessment survey is NOT an application for assistance

  • Must fill out a bridge loan application to be considered
