Fitzgerald Innovation Award (FIA)

Purpose: To empower and inspire teachers and administrators to pursue and implement significant positive change through strategic innovative instruction.

Geographic Scope: Bradley County and Cleveland City Schools, Tennessee

Award Amount: $15,000

Eligibility:

  • Teachers and administrators in Bradley County and Cleveland City Schools

  • Projects focused on innovative instruction and strategic change

  • School-level or district collaborative projects

    • Focus Areas:

  • Innovative classroom instruction

  • Strategic implementation of positive change

  • STEM education and technology integration

  • Collaborative projects across schools

    • Background:
    Created in 2019 by Dr. Rodney and Margo Fitzgerald, funded by the Fitzgerald Family Foundation. The Fitzgeralds have been committed to excellence in local public education from BCPEF's formation and have worked tirelessly to support innovative instruction through time and resources.

    Example Projects:

  • 2019: Bradley Central High School STEM enhancement project that evolved during COVID-19 to produce 600+ plastic face shields for 35 local healthcare entities (collaborative with Walker Valley High School, Ocoee Middle School, Lake Forest Middle School)

  • 2020: "Innovation=Integration STRONGER TOGETHER" - Collaborative project between Bradley Central High School and Walker Valley High School
