FEMS Research and Training Grants

The FEMS Research and Training Grants support early career microbiologists seeking research and training opportunities at European institutions. These grants, up to €5000, assist with travel, accommodation, and subsistence costs. Eligible applicants must be active microbiologists or PhD students, members of a FEMS Member Society, and residents of a European country. This initiative fosters collaboration and knowledge exchange within the microbiological community, enhancing research capabilities across borders.

Members of FEMS Member Societies can apply for our grants. Research and Training Grants assist early career scientists in pursuing research and training at a European host institution in a country other than their own country of residence (and exceptionally to support research and training projects outside Europe). These grants may be used to contribute to travel, accommodation and subsistence costs of making the visit. Support is limited to a maximum of €5000.

Eligibility

Research and Training Grants (formerly known as FEMS Research Grants) are meant to assist early career scientists in pursuing research and training at a European host institution in another country than their own country of residence.Applicants should: be active microbiologists, having obtained their highest degree less than five years prior to the application deadline date OR be a PhD student;be a member of a FEMS Member Society; and be a resident in a European country or a country that has a FEMS member Society.These grants are intended to support travel and living costs of the grantee only.
