Background The Fairfield County Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit dedicated to enhancing the quality of life and economic viability of the Fairfield County community. It was established by a small committee of caring citizens in 1989, when Probate Judge S. Farrell Jackson challenged local citizens to form a foundation to keep significant trust funds invested locally. From the beginning, local citizens have served on the Board of Trustees to provide a Community Foundation. This enables individuals, families and organizations a resource “through” which to give money to benefit our community. Our mission is to build a legacy through philanthropy and stewardship to strengthen our community. Vision Statement Fairfield County Foundation will lead the way in building a thriving and inclusive community that supports well-being and quality of life for all. We achieve our vision by: Responding to community priorities and needs by bringing resources and people together. Prioritizing quality of life for our community. Helping create an attractive place to live. Connecting people from multi-generations and diverse backgrounds. Supporting workforce development and empowerment. Creating awareness about acceptance and the importance of inclusion. Fairfield County Foundation Grant In order to afford an opportunity for individuals and others to financially assist non-profit organizations within our community, the Fairfield County Foundation manages a variety of restricted and unrestricted funds. Restricted funds have specific directions, which were given at the time the fund was established, and the Board of Trustees may only approve grants in accordance to the donors’ direction. Unrestricted and field of interest funds may be used to respond to community grant applications. The Fairfield County Foundation encourages 501(c)(3) nonprofits in the Fairfield County area to partner with the Foundation in meeting its mission and to apply for assistance through Foundation grants when appropriate. The partnering organization should be located in Fairfield County or be able to demonstrate that a significant number of people or clients served by the organization reside in Fairfield County.Eligibility
