Summary
The EXPAND Exploratory Studies Grant Program, part of TRISH, aims to fund scientific studies for commercial spaceflight applications. Proposals should focus on exploratory science and technology demonstrations to ensure safe human space travel. Projects may undergo two funding phases, but not all will guarantee a space mission manifestation. All U.S. institutions and companies are eligible to apply, fostering collaborations across sectors to advance space health research.Overview
NOTE: The Step 1 proposal deadline is represented by the pre proposal deadline. The Step 2 invited proposal deadline is represented by the full proposal deadline. EXPAND Exploratory Studies Grant Program TRISH is seeking scientific studies for potential implementation in commercial spaceflight. This solicitation is part of TRISH’s EXPAND Program. Working with commercial spaceflight providers and their passengers, EXPAND collects pre-, in-, and post-flight health data from multiple commercial spaceflights. Proposals for this solicitation focuses on two topics: Exploratory Science: This topic seeks new hypothesis-driven scientific studies to enable safe and successful human space travel.Technology Demonstrations: This topic seeks successful, mature ground technologies or interventions that would benefit from demonstration in spaceflight. Awarded projects will be funded through two consecutive phases, namely a Flight Definition Phase and a Flight Implementation Phase. Based on the dynamic nature of commercial space missions, it is likely that only a subset of selected projects will proceed to the Flight Implementation Phase. Projects that proceed to the Flight Implementation Phase are not guaranteed to be manifested in a space mission.Eligibility
