Overview

The Esther Simmons Charitable Trust aims to support impactful projects within Jefferson County and Steubenville, Ohio. The trust prioritizes initiatives that provide year-round programming, direct services, and measurable outcomes, while addressing community needs. Eligible organizations must demonstrate financial accountability and collaboration with others, and have a proven track record of at least three years in operation. The trust does not support general operating costs, pilot programs, or for-profit entities.

The Esther Simmons Charitable Trust is a trust designated for the Jefferson County and Steubenville, Ohio area.
Our Committee supports projects and programs that:

  • Support year-round programming
  • Provide direct services to individuals and reflect the core social mission of the organization
  • Address a need in the community for which there is a demonstrated demand
  • Have broad impact or benefit underserved populations
  • Have measurable outcomes, a plan for documenting results, and long-term sustainability
  • Have diversified income streams and demonstrate effective financial accountability
  • Involve collaboration with other organizations

Complement rather than duplicate the work of other non-profit organizationsAre submitted from organizations that have 3 years of operation in full service to others. Also, the program or project for which you are applying needs to have at least one (1) complete year with a report showing the measurable impact available prior to applying
