Energy Security Fellows Program

Organization: Securing America's Future Energy (SAFE)

Program Status: Ongoing fellowship program, currently in its sixth+ year of operation

Geographic Scope: United States, with programming based in Washington, D.C.

Program Duration: One-year fellowship

  • Program Description:
    The SAFE Fellows Program provides the next generation of energy and national security professionals with access to high-level programming and networking opportunities. The program consists of monthly, Washington, D.C.-based in-person dinner discussions and virtual events on energy security policy, approaching topics through the lens of economic and national security. These intimate, off-the-record events take the form of roundtable discussions with VIP guests, including:

  • Members of SAFE's Energy Security Leadership Council

  • Members of SAFE's Commission on Energy and Geopolitics

  • Current and former members of Congress

  • Ambassadors

  • Other key public officials
  • Fellows are asked to submit one article or piece to be published in The Fuse (SAFE's publication).

    Upon completion, participants are invited to participate in alumni programming, including invitations to private briefings, events, and other opportunities.

      Eligibility Requirements

    • Minimum of five years of energy or national security experience working in government, industry, think tanks, media, or academia
    • Demonstrated interest and experience in energy or national security
    • At least 28 years of age

    Qualified candidates must submit the following to fellows@secureenergy.org:

    1. Cover Letter - One page, outlining:
    - Candidate's interest in the program
    - Which specific aspect of SAFE/Coalition for Reimagined Mobility/Electrification Coalition work you are interested in (select from list below)

    2. Resume - Including:
    - Work history
    - Educational background

    3. Letter of Nomination - Written by an experienced energy or national security professional
