Funder: End Allergies Together Inc (MA, US)
Website: endallergiestogether.com
Organization Type: 501(c)(3) non-profit organization
Mission & Focus
E•A•T is solely focused on funding research to accelerate the most promising ideas in food allergy research toward clinical testing and expansion of shorter-term treatments and longer-term solutions.- Advance scientific and medical research to accelerate diagnostics, treatments, cures and prevention of food allergy
- Understand underlying immune mechanisms
- Determine genetic and epigenetic factors of food allergy prevalence
- Discover role of microbiome in food allergy
- Understand basic biology to surface key targets for breakthrough treatments
- Identify and accelerate short-term therapies to increase quality of life in patient subsets
Research Goals
- Biomarkers: Research to develop better diagnostic markers for food allergies and eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE)
- Microbiome: Studies on the role of gut microbiota in food allergy prevention and treatment
- Oral Immunotherapy (OIT): Research to improve safety and efficacy of OIT treatments
- Prevention: Studies on preventing allergic sensitization
- Eosinophilic Esophagitis (EoE): Research on diagnosis and treatment of EoE
- Basic Science: Fundamental research on food allergy mechanisms, cellular landscape, allergen sensing, immune responses, and clinical/translational applications
What They Fund
Research studies in the following focus areas:- Educational programming
- Publications
- Advocacy related efforts
- Operations for treatment centers
- Other food allergy related initiatives outside of research
What They Do NOT Fund
Funding Process
Objective Funding Approach: E•A•T's Medical Advisory Board uses an objective grant process to recommend funding allocations for research studies. The Medical Advisory Board is comprised of highly knowledgeable scientists and physicians who are leaders in the field but not conducting their own studies.- United States (Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, Stanford University, University of Chicago, Boston Children's Hospital, Cincinnati Children's Hospital, National Jewish Denver, King's College London institutions, Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard, Yale School of Medicine)
- United Kingdom (Imperial College London)
