Geographic Scope: Minneapolis, Minnesota; serves Great MN Schools' portfolio of schools

Background: Federal immigration enforcement is preventing students from attending school. Great MN Schools launched this fund to ensure students impacted by immigration enforcement activity can continue learning.

Focus Areas:

• Technology and devices for students without home internet access
• Resources for uninterrupted education
• Mental health and social-emotional learning support
• Learning interventions and tutoring
• Safe transportation support
• Teacher stipends for coordinating remote learning and family outreach

The Crisis:

• 25-50% of students across Great MN Schools' network are staying home due to immigration enforcement activity
• School staff have been detained from parking lots
• Schools deploying extra security, door-to-door transportation, and staff escorts on buses
• Schools serve over 9,000 students, majority students of color from low-income backgrounds, many from immigrant families

What the Fund Supports:

• Hotspots and devices for students without home internet access
• Teacher stipends for coordinating remote learning and safe transportation
• Mental health and social-emotional learning support
• Tutoring, summer school and extended learning opportunities
• Essential learning resources to keep students connected and learning
• Classroom regulation spaces with soft seating and calming materials
• School safety personnel
• Student mindfulness programs
• High dosage tutoring small group contracts

How Schools Can Request Support

Schools serving students impacted by immigration enforcement can request support through Great MN Schools. Schools should:

1. Complete the support request form at greatmnschools.org/emergency-student-connectivity-fund/
2. Describe their specific needs related to technology, learning resources, mental health support, or transportation
3. Submit request for review and allocation

100% of contributions go directly to schools with the highest need to support uninterrupted learning.
