Emergency Relief Program

The Texas State Fire Fighters Emergency Relief and College Scholarship Fund, Inc. provides financial assistance to eligible firefighters and their families during challenging times and hardship situations.

Award Details

• Assistance Amount: Emergency relief is provided in $500 increments
• Maximum Benefit: Up to $1,000 for any single hardship or event
  • Initial $500 award available
  • Additional $500 available if needed

Timeline

• Initial $500: Must be requested within 90 days of the event causing the hardship
• Additional $500: If needed, must be requested within 90 days of receiving the initial $500

Eligibility

• Must be an eligible firefighter or survivor of an eligible firefighter
• Must experience a qualifying hardship situation
• Must submit a complete application within the specified timeframe
• The Fund's Board of Directors makes all eligibility determinations (final decisions)

Geographic Scope

• Texas (serves 20,496 professional firefighters in 209 Texas communities)
