Overview

Disaster Relief Program

Organization: Texas State Association of Fire Fighters (TSAFF)

Overview: The Disaster Relief Program provides financial assistance to TSAFF members who suffer financial hardship in declared disaster areas or following natural or man-made disasters.

    Eligible Disasters

  • Floods
  • Hurricanes
  • Tornadoes
  • Earthquakes
  • Landslides
  • Fires
  • Drought
  • Civil disturbances
  • U.S. or Texas government declared disasters
  • Disasters determined by majority of Board Directors

    Award Details

  • Maximum Amount: $500 for any single disaster occurrence
  • Household Limit: Multiple awards to household members cannot exceed $500 collectively
  • - Example: If both spouses are TSAFF members, combined eligibility is $500 maximum

    Eligible Assistance Categories

    Disbursements granted for immediate:
  • Housing
  • Food
  • Medical supplies and services
  • Clothing
  • Other disaster relief associated with displacement from primary residence

    Eligible Property Losses

    Catastrophic loss limited to damages to:
  • Primary home
  • Primary vehicle
  • Medical needs and/or displacement from primary residence

Eligibility Requirements

1. Must be a current TSAFF member at the time the disaster occurred 2. Must reside in the area declared a disaster by: - U.S. government, OR - Texas government, OR - Majority of Board Directors 3. Must be displaced from primary home because of the disaster 4. Eligibility based solely on need as determined by Board Directors majority

How to Apply

Application Process

1. Obtain application form
- Available at TSAFF.org
- Contact a TSAFF Officer or Fund Board of Director

2. Complete the Emergency Relief Application
- Provide all required information
- Include details of disaster and displacement

3. Submit within deadline
- All applications must be received within 30 days from the date of the disaster
- Submit to the Board of Directors for consideration

4. Review and approval
- Board of Directors reviews application
- Board declares if qualifying disaster
- Board approves or denies relief request

5. Fund disbursement
- Upon Board approval, disaster relief funds granted
- Distributed in most expeditious manner possible
- If not distributed directly, funds mailed to address on application
