Emergency Grants
Status: Available year-round
Geographic Scope: Commonwealth of Kentucky
Purpose: Provides emergency funding when a sudden change impacts service delivery of Kentucky nonprofits
- HVAC units failing
- Walk-in freezer failures
- Sudden roof collapse
- Security system failures
- Other critical infrastructure or equipment emergencies that impact service delivery
Eligible Emergency Needs
Funding is available for emergency situations such as:- Must be a Kentucky nonprofit that has previously received a grant from the Kentucky Colonels (eligible organizations)
- Cannot have outstanding grant commitments from the Kentucky Colonels; previous grant files must be closed before applying for emergency funds in the current funding cycle
- Must be a 501(c)(3) exempt organization
- Located within the Commonwealth of Kentucky
Eligibility Requirements
How It Works
1. Reach out to Kentucky Colonels staff to discuss your organization's emergency need 2. Staff will assess eligibility 3. If eligible, your organization receives access to complete the application 4. A trustee will reach out to discuss your request 5. Emergency funds are awarded on an as-needed basis throughout the year- Limited emergency funds are available each year

1. Initial Contact

2. Eligibility Assessment
- Kentucky Colonels staff will review your eligibility
- Verify you do not have outstanding grant commitments
- Confirm previous grant files are closed
3. Conditional Approval
- If eligible, you will receive access to complete the emergency application
4. Application Submission
- Complete the emergency grant application
- Submit through the designated process (contact staff for specific instructions)
5. Trustee Discussion
- A trustee will reach out to discuss your request
- Further clarification or documentation may be requested
6. Award Decision
- Awards are made on a rolling basis throughout the year
- Notification timeline depends on available funds and request volume
Note: Organizations with outstanding grant commitments from the Kentucky Colonels will not be eligible to apply for the current funding cycle until their previous grant file has been closed.
