Elite Athlete Development Grant

Overview: The USA Track & Field Foundation's Elite Athlete Development Grant Program supports post-collegiate track and field athletes pursuing world-class performances and Olympic representation.

Geographic Scope: United States

Focus Areas:

  • Elite track and field athletes across all events

  • Athletes pursuing Olympic Games qualification and representation

  • Support for athletes in throwing events (via John W. James Endowment)

    • Eligibility Requirements:

  • Post-collegiate track and field athletes

  • Must meet minimum performance standards

  • Must demonstrate financial need

  • Athletes must be USATF eligible

    • Funding Support:

  • Training costs and coaching fees

  • Travel to competitions

  • Health insurance

  • Injury care and prevention

  • Olympic qualifier bonus pool available ($50,000 total divided among grantees who qualify for Olympic Games)

    • Program Features:

  • Career counseling and mentoring through Elite Athlete Mentoring Program

  • Job placement assistance

  • Participation in Run With US! program

  • Over 100 athletes supported since program inception

  • Many recipients have gone on to compete and medal at Olympic Games, World Championships, Pan American Games
