EGLS Doc Brown Young Investigator Award Grant

The EGLS Doc Brown Young Investigator Award, presented by the American Physical Society, recognizes exceptional young faculty in physics. Awardees receive a cash prize and commendation at the annual spring meeting. Eligible nominees include PhD lecturers and tenure-track faculty who are APS members in the EGLS region and within six years of their appointment. Nomination requires endorsement from a tenured faculty member and attendance at the meeting where the award is presented.

The American Physical Society (APS) is a nonprofit membership organization working to advance and diffuse the knowledge of physics through its outstanding research journals, scientific meetings, and education, outreach, advocacy, and international activities. APS represents more than 50,000 members, including physicists in academia, national laboratories, and industry in the United States and throughout the world.
The APS Eastern Great Lakes Section (EGLS) offers the Doc Brown Young Investigator Award, bestowed once yearly at the spring meeting to young faculty. Awardees will receive a cash prize and a section commendation for outstanding research. The award is named in honor of Robert Brown.

Eligibility

Nominees must be a PhD lecturer, tenure-track faculty, or tenured faculty.Nominees must be an EGLS APS member working at an institution in the EGLS region and within 6 years of their initial appointment at that institution.Nominees must have at least one publication or conference presentation with undergraduate co-authors from their present institution.Nominees must be nominated by a tenured faculty member in their department.Nominees must be present at the EGLS APS meeting where the prize is to be awarded.
