DSC Foundation General Grants Program

Geographic Scope: Global - applications welcome from any organization or individual, regardless of location

Mission Focus: Supporting conservation and preservation of wildlife and habitats through sustainable hunting

Funding Source: Resources from Dallas Safari Club, event fundraising, and direct contributions from individuals and organizations

2025 Grant Priorities

The Foundation Board defines specific priorities annually:

#### Priority 1: Landscape-Scale Conservation

  • Support projects with focus on collaboration with national, state, provincial, community, and tribal management authorities

  • Ongoing improvements in wildlife management including drones, survey technologies, and disease management

  • Focus Species: Grizzly and black bear, wolf, wild sheep, caribou, lion, leopard, rhino, European bear and wolf, argali and other mountain species
  • #### Priority 2: Hunting's Conservation Role

  • Demonstrate and quantify hunting's role in wildlife and habitat conservation

  • Highlight ecosystem services and benefits to local communities and livelihoods

  • Geographic Focus: North America, New Zealand, Africa, and Asia
  • #### Priority 3: Anti-Poaching Programs

  • Track and quantify acres protected, poachers apprehended, staff employed

  • Document removal of traps, nets, snares, etc.

  • Measure community involvement levels
  • #### Priority 4: Population Estimates & Science-Based Management

  • Determine population estimates for focal species

  • Address information gaps

  • Support science-based species management

  • Focus Species/Areas: Lion range-wide, Leopard in Tanzania, Hippo range-wide, Argali and Ibex in Asia, Bear/Wolf/Mountain Lion in North America
  • #### Priority 5: Public Education

  • Educate public and young people about wildlife conservation principles

  • Highlight hunting's role in conservation

  • Focus: Programs reaching voting public and providing outdoor education/experiences

  • Interactive teaching of hunting, wildlife management, and outdoor leadership skills

    • Geographic: Global, no geographic restrictions mentioned
    • Organization Types: Organizations and individuals involved in conservation and wildlife preservation through sustainable hunting
