Dr. Robert Tanner Freeman Dental School Scholarship

Status: In early stages of development, still fundraising for expansion

Established: 2023

Geographic Scope: United States

Focus: Dental school scholarships for underrepresented minorities

Overview:
The DTA Foundation in partnership with the United Negro College Fund (UNCF) established this scholarship initiative to provide scholarships to underrepresented minorities looking to start their dental education. This is the first dental student scholarship of its kind established through UNCF.

Program Goals:

  • Foster diversity in dentistry

  • Enhance accessibility within the oral healthcare profession

  • Address lack of diversity in the dental profession
  • Founding Partners:

  • Founding Anchor Sponsor: Patterson Dental

  • Founding Partners: Benco Family Foundation, 3M
  • About UNCF Partnership:
The United Negro College Fund has helped more than 500,000 students earn college degrees since its founding. UNCF recognizes that diversity in many professions across the US is severely lacking and doesn't represent population needs.

    Current Status:
The scholarship is still in early development stages and further support is essential to maximize impact. The foundation is actively seeking additional donors and contributors.
