Dr. Frank Groner Administrative Fellowship Program

Overview: Immersive, one-year training opportunity for fellows to learn and work with executive-level leadership at Baptist Memorial Health Care. Designed to develop the next generation of healthcare leaders.

Program Duration: June through May of following year

Geographic Scope: Three-state region (Arkansas, Mississippi, Tennessee) with exposure across all 24 Baptist hospitals

Program Structure

The fellowship is configured into three phases:

Phase 1 - Corporate Office Training:

  • Time spent in corporate offices learning overall system management

  • Focus on system support services:

  • - Strategic planning
    - Operational management
    - Managed care
    - Finance
    - Human resources
    - Quality
    - Legal
    - Marketing
    - Government relations
    - Clinical service lines (cardiology, neurology, oncology, pediatrics, and others)

    Phase 2 - Operating Entities:

  • Work across all 24 Baptist hospitals

  • Gain frontline access to:

  • - Baptist Medical Group clinics (900+ providers)
    - Outpatient surgery and imaging centers
    - Home care
    - Hospice
    - Emergency services
    - Telemedicine operations

    Phase 3 - Knowledge Application and Leadership Development:

  • Apply knowledge and develop management skills

  • Support and lead innovation teams

  • Active participation in health system projects
  • Mentorship

    Primary Preceptors:

  • Jason Little, Chief Executive Officer

  • Zach Chandler, Chief Strategy Officer
  • Additional Mentorship: Senior Leadership Team members, hospital and medical group CEOs, and corporate system services leaders throughout the health care system

    Outcomes

    Upon completion, fellows will have:

  • Broad and in-depth understanding of technical aspects of operating a comprehensive healthcare system

  • Leadership skills needed to transition into administrative healthcare leadership roles

  • Legacy of success: Past fellows have advanced to remarkable careers in healthcare and hospital administration at prestigious systems throughout the U.S. and world
