Overview

This award recognizes doctoral thesis research of outstanding quality and achievement in quantum information science and technology and encourages effective written and oral presentation of research results. The award is presented to one individual and consists of a $2,500 stipend and a certificate. Finalists are invited to present their research at the APS Global Physics Summit. All finalists will be reimbursed up to $1,500 for travel expenses. The award is co-sponsored by PRX Quantum, in celebration of the International Year of Quantum, and 5th anniversary of the journal.

* No self-nominations are permitted at this time. The nominated student’s advisor should nominate the student. Both the nominator and nominee must be members of APS and DQI for the application to be considered.
* Doctoral students who have passed their thesis defense for the Ph.D. in the disciplines related to quantum information during the two calendar years prior to the year the award is decided are eligible. For example, a person who passed their Ph.D. thesis defense from September 1, 2022 and August 31, 2024 is eligible for the 2025 award.
