Downtown San Diego Lions Club Scholarship Fund

The Downtown San Diego Lions Club offers scholarships through its Welfare Foundation to support local high school students committed to serving their communities while pursuing higher education.

Geographic Scope: San Diego, CA - specifically serving graduating seniors from eight high schools in the club's geographical area

Eligible High Schools:

• Hoover High School
• Garfield High School
• Kearny High School
• Lincoln High School
• Monarch High School
• Twain High School
• Gompers High School
• San Diego High School

Focus Areas:

• Supporting students pursuing higher education
• Recognizing academic achievement
• Encouraging community service and leadership
• Assisting students with financial barriers to education

Selection Criteria:

• Merit: Academic achievements and potential for future success
• Financial Need: Students facing financial challenges in accessing higher education
• Community Service: Strong emphasis on active community involvement and continued commitment to service

Eligible Uses:

• Tuition at community colleges or vocational schools of student's choice
• Other educational expenses

Eligibility Requirements:

• Graduating seniors from specified high schools
• U.S. citizens or legal residents with alien registration card
• Demonstrated financial need
• Sufficient grade point average
• Commitment to community service aligned with Lions Club objectives

Application Process

1. Obtain Application: Applications are available through school counselors starting in early February
2. Submit Required Documents:
