Dockstader Foundation High School Scholarship

Purpose: In honor of E. Kneale Dockstader's commitment to the communities of southern Chester County and to further his goals for environmental improvements, the board of directors of the E. Kneale Dockstader Foundation has authorized scholarships in his honor.

Mission

Promote educational, charitable and scientific activities that enhance and optimize the natural environment in southern Chester County.

Eligible Schools

Scholarships may be awarded to students in each of the following schools:
• Avon Grove High School
• Avon Grove Charter School
• Kennett High School
• Octorara High School
• Oxford Area High School
• Unionville High School

Geographic Scope

• Southern Chester County, Pennsylvania

Selection Criteria

Primary Requirement:

Declaration of intent by the applicant to pursue a degree in a field related to protection and management of the environment including, but not limited to:

- Environmental science or policy
- Environmental/land use planning
- Environmental engineering
- Environmental finance and economics

Academics:

Applicant shall be in good standing academically

Have completed all requirements for graduation

Have been accepted by an accredited college or university

Good Citizenship:

Outline extracurricular activities inside and outside of school

Provide letters of recommendation (used in evaluation)

Essay:

Complete a short essay outlining:

- Intended field of study
- Type of work intended to pursue upon graduation

Length: Minimum 1 page – maximum 2 pages
