Organization: Goddard House (Home for Aged Women Inc)

Overview:
Since 2016, Goddard House has funded scholarships for UMass Boston nursing students through the Doane Scholarships program.

Eligibility

• Candidates must have: Worked in the City of Boston for at least ten years as a C.N.A. (Certified Nursing Assistant), L.P.N. (Licensed Practical Nurse), or R.N. (Registered Nurse)
• Students are: Recruited and screened by the College of Nursing and Health Sciences at UMass Boston

Funding Source

• Funding and specific eligibility requirements were established by an 1851 bequest to Goddard House

Program Activities

• Each year, Goddard House hosts a reception to honor scholarship recipients
• Recipients share their stories, courses of study, and the significance of receiving the scholarship
• Program celebrates scholars juggling family, full-time jobs, and academic studies
