Summary

The DMP Post-Doctoral Travel Awards, sponsored by the American Physical Society, recognize exceptional materials physics research by post-doctoral researchers at the APS Global Physics Summit. In 2024, multiple awards of $1200 will support participation in DMP Focus Topic sessions. Applicants must submit an abstract, and selections will be based on research quality, impact, and innovation. The awards aim to promote diversity by encouraging nominations from underrepresented groups in physics.

Overview

The American Physical Society (APS) is a nonprofit membership organization working to advance and diffuse the knowledge of physics through its outstanding research journals, scientific meetings, and education, outreach, advocacy, and international activities. APS represents more than 50,000 members, including physicists in academia, national laboratories, and industry in the United States and throughout the world. The DMP Post-Doctoral Travel Awards have been established to recognize innovative materials physics research by Post-Doctoral researchers that will be presented at the APS Global Physics Summit. The awards are supported through the Division of Materials Physics. We anticipate that there will be multiple $1200 Post-Doctoral Travel Awards in 2024 to support participation in DMP Focus Topic sessions at the APS Global Physics Summit sessions. Submission of an abstract to a DMP Focus Topic is required. The selection of the recipients of the DMP Post-Doctoral Travel Awards will be based on the research quality, the impact of the research at the Global Physics Summit, and the innovative contribution of the post-doctoral researcher.

Eligibility

You can learn more about this opportunity by visiting the funder's website. The membership of APS is diverse and global, and the nominees and recipients of travel awards should reflect that diversity so that all are recognized for their impact on our community. Nominations of scientists belonging to groups traditionally underrepresented in physics, such as women, LGBT+ scientists, scientists who are Black, Indigenous, and people of color (BIPOC), disabled scientists, and scientists from outside the United States are especially encouraged.
