Diversity Apprenticeship Program
Program Type: Paid apprenticeship for emerging leaders in hospitality and tourism

Overview:
A 600-hour paid apprenticeship program providing substantial and holistic experience working across multiple departments within Visit Baltimore and Guinness Open Gate Brewery, with additional exposure to other industry partners such as hotels, attractions, conventions, arenas, or sports facilities.
Background
Visit Baltimore, the official sales and marketing organization for the City, recognizes the critical role tourism plays in workforce development and economic vitality. The travel industry is currently the third largest employer for Baltimore City, supporting 86,000 local jobs and generating $10 billion in visitor spending during a typical year.- Position: 1 apprentice focusing on ethnic diversity
- Hours: At least 600 hours (not to exceed 6 months; minimum 25-30 hours per week)
- Departments: Sales and Customer Experience, Marketing and Communications, or General Operations at Visit Baltimore
- Hourly Rate: $18-$20 per hour
- Benefits: Transportation support, paid holidays (12 designated per calendar year), paid sick leave (accrues 1 hour for every 30 hours worked)
- Employment Guarantee: Minimum coordinator level position upon successful completion
Program Structure
- Age: 21 years or older
- Residency: Baltimore City resident (preferred) or Baltimore metro region
- Background: No DUI history
- Interest: Demonstrated interest in hospitality/travel/tourism sector
- Qualities: Strong work ethic, passion for learning, abundant curiosity
- Diversity: Candidates from underrepresented communities and diverse ethnic backgrounds encouraged to apply
Eligibility Requirements
- Commit to 600-hour apprenticeship (not to exceed 6 months with availability of 25-30 hours per week)
- Adhere to program policies and procedures of Visit Baltimore, Guinness Open Gate Brewery, and participating industry partners
- Perform all assigned duties
- Complete post-apprenticeship evaluation
- Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, talk, and hear; reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities
