Designated and Agency Fund Grants

The Richland County Foundation allocates grants from Designated Funds (which provide annual support to donor-selected charities) and Agency Funds (established by charitable organizations and managed by Foundation).

Designated Funds

• Provide annual support to charities selected by donor
• If organization ceases to exist, Foundation ensures donor's original intent is met by finding suitable alternative organization

Agency Funds

• Established by charitable organizations
• Can be endowed or non-endowed
• Organizations benefit from Foundation's professional asset management
• Allows agency staff and board to focus on providing services

Application Process

For organizations interested in establishing an Agency Fund:

1. Contact Richland County Foundation
2. Discuss fund establishment options (endowed or non-endowed)
3. Work with Foundation staff on fund structure
4. Foundation manages assets; organization receives grants per fund terms

For Designated Fund beneficiaries:

• Designated funds are created by individual donors for specific organizations
• Organizations receive grants as designated by fund terms
• No application necessary for designated organizations
