About Founded as Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, LMCC serves, connects, and makes space for artists and community. Since 1973, LMCC has been the champion for independent artists in New York City and the cultural life force of Lower Manhattan. We envision New York City as a place in which artists and community in dialogue are creating a more just, equitable, and sustainable society. Creative Learning Grants Program Creative Learning supports artist-led projects of any discipline that draw on arts education practices to engage older adults in in-depth arts learning and hands-on creation of artistic works. Funding is provided for sequential, skill-building arts study and participatory arts projects that take place in accessible community-based settings such as senior centers, recreation centers, public libraries, and community centers. Creative Learning supports projects taking place in Manhattan neighborhoods from Inwood to the Battery between January 1–December 31, 2026. The program funding is provided by the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs’ Greater New York Arts Development Fund and the New York State Council on the Arts’ Statewide Community Regrants.Eligibility
