History In 1989, longtime area physician and community leader, Dr. John Birdzell met with fellow Crown Point Rotary members to discuss the need for establishing a public charitable organization dedicated to building permanently endowed funds that distribute grants for community needs. The idea was well received. Much brainstorming and administrative preparation followed, including incorporation and tax exemption certification. In 1990, the Crown Point Community Foundation was a reality.
