Councilman Edward Burroughs III Scholarship Program Grant

The Councilman Edward Burroughs III Scholarship Program, established in partnership with the United Negro College Fund (UNCF), aims to support students from Prince George’s County, Maryland. This scholarship offers financial aid to eligible applicants attending UNCF member institutions or other accredited colleges, ensuring they can pursue their education without financial burden.

For more than seven decades, this principle has remained at the heart of UNCF, enabling us to raise more than $5 billion and help more than 500,000 students and counting not just attend college, but thrive, graduate and become leaders.
We do this in three ways: By awarding more than 12,000 students scholarships, worth more than $65 million, each year. By providing financial support to 37 historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs). And by serving as the nation’s leading advocate for the importance of minority education and community engagement.
In partnership with UNCF, Councilman Edward Burroughs III established The Councilman Edward Burroughs III Scholarship Program.

Eligibility

Eligible Applicants for the Program Must Meet the Following Criteria:
Be a resident of Prince George’s County, Maryland, District 8District 8 Zip Codes 20762, 20746, 20748, 20745, 20744, 20749, 20745, 20750, 20757Be accepted to or currently enrolled at any UNCF Member Institution, other HBCU, accredited four-year institution, trade school or community college (excluding Prince George’s Community College).File a 2025-2026 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (“FAFSA”) formHave a demonstrated, unmet financial need as verified by the institution.
