Costco Wholesale Charitable Contributions Grant

The Costco Wholesale Charitable Contributions program prioritizes support for children, education, and health services within local communities. Nonprofit organizations seeking assistance must be 501(c)(3) certified and focus on monetary requests. Applications are reviewed within 4-6 weeks, factoring in community needs and collaboration. However, Costco limits grants to 10% of the program budget and typically restricts organizations to one request per fiscal year. They do not fund individuals or direct aid for various specific purposes.

Costco Wholesale’s primary charitable efforts specifically focus on programs supporting children, education, and health and human services in the communities where we do business. Throughout the year we receive a large number of requests from nonprofit organizations striving to make a positive impact, and we are thankful to be able to provide support to a variety of organizations and causes. While we would like to respond favorably to all requests, understandably, the needs are far greater than our allocated resources and we are unable to accommodate them all.

Grant Applications
If the request is under consideration, you may be contacted by staff for any additional information needed. Applications are reviewed within 4-6 weeks, and decisions are made based on several factors, including: type of program; identified community need not otherwise available; indication that evidenced based data will establish measurable results of intended outcomes; community collaboration; broad base of financial support; project budget and operating expenses.

Eligibility

To apply for Costco support, organizations must meet the following general requirements:

Must be a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.Focus on supporting children, education, and/or health and human services.Monetary requests only.

Ineligibility

Generally, Costco does not grant funds of more than 10% of the total program budget.We typically do not consider more than one grant request per fiscal year (September - August) for each organization.We do not fund direct aid to the following:Individuals (crowdfunding, GoFundMe pages, etc.)Capital campaigns, building projects, or equipmentTransportation and travel expensesPolitical organizationsReligious organizations for religious purposesSalaries or staff trainingGovernment agenciesLoans or investmentsResearch studiesAthletic teams, events, booster clubs, or sponsorshipsAnimal related programs, including sheltersMerchandise for fundraisers and auctionsSymposiums, conferences, conventions, professional association meetingsIndividual primary and secondary schools, PTO’s and PTA’sMerchandise promotions, partnerships or advertisingGeneral awareness campaigns/advocacyDevelopment or production of books, films, videos, television programs, social media or websitesParties, celebrations, parades, festivals and rafflesDeficit fundingAwards, monuments and/or memorials
