Summary
The CORE Funding: AHNS Trainee Pilot Research Award supports innovative research in head and neck oncology, encouraging trainees to engage in clinical or translational studies. Since its inception, CORE has provided over $14 million in grants, facilitating significant advancements in otolaryngology. This initiative aims to enhance research efforts, reduce fragmentation, and promote collaboration among various stakeholders to improve outcomes for patients with head and neck neoplastic diseases.Overview
AAO-HNS Foundation The AAO-HNS Foundation works to advance the art, science, and ethical practice of otolaryngology-head and neck surgery through education, research, and quality measurement. The American Academy of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery, Inc. (AAO-HNS), and its foundation, the American Academy of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery Foundation, Inc. (AAO-HNSF), are two separate and independent organizations, each incorporated in the District of Columbia. The Foundation is a non-profit, educational organization, designated as a 501(c)(3) association by the IRS. The Academy is designated as a 501(c)(6) non-profit association by the IRS. Centralized Otolaryngology Research Efforts (CORE) Grants The Centralized Otolaryngology Research Efforts (CORE) grants program is a collaboration of several societies and industry supporters focused on providing support for research in the field of otolaryngology-head and neck surgery. Since 1985, CORE has awarded more than 800 grants and more than $14 million for research projects, research training, and career development to further the specialty of otolaryngology. These grants, ranging in award size from $5,000 to $150,000, have been essential for increasing the research base for otolaryngology. The CORE program brings greater scale and less fragmentation and overlap to otolaryngology-head and neck surgery research opportunities, reduces the aggregate costs of the individual grant programs, and enables a comprehensive overview of the spectrum of promising otolaryngology and head and neck surgery research/researchers to promote to NIH and other agencies. CORE Funding: AHNS Trainee Pilot Research Award Purpose The purpose of this award is to support basic, translational, or clinical research projects in head and neck oncology. Clinical or translational research studies are strongly encouraged and should be specifically related to the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, outcomes, or pathophysiology of head and neck neoplastic disease. The Trainee Pilot Research Award is meant to encourage trainees to become active in research within the field of head and neck surgery.Eligibility
