Cook County Community Development Block Grant (CDBG)

The Cook County Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) offers funding opportunities for municipalities and non-profits to enhance urban communities. Projects can focus on infrastructure improvements or public services, with funding caps of $500,000 for infrastructure, $150,000 for public facilities, and $100,000 for public service initiatives. The program aims to support low- and moderate-income individuals by providing decent housing, suitable living environments, and expanded economic opportunities.

NOTE: There is a limit of only one funding application per agency or municipality. Non-profits may apply for one CDBG Capital Improvement project or one CDBG Public Service Project.
The Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program is authorized under Title 1 of the Housing and Community Development Act (HCDA) of 1974, as amended. CDBG grew out of the consolidation of several categorical programs under which communities competed nationally for funds.
The primary objective of Title 1 of the HCDA, as amended, is the development of viable urban communities. These viable communities are achieved by providing the following, principally for persons of low-and moderate-income:

Funding request cap for Capital Improvement (infrastructure) projects is $500,000. Non-Profit agencies applying for Capital Improvement (public facility) projects are capped at $150,000. Non-Profit agencies applying for Public Service projects are capped at $100,000.
