Geographic Scope: Louisiana

Purpose: Fund projects supporting the Foundation's mission in education, cultural preservation, and arts development. Invest proceeds from Jazz Fest directly into the community.

Jazz & Heritage Presenting Grants

• For Louisiana-based non-profit arts organizations
• Focus: Festivals and other cultural events
• Hire local performers

Media & Documentation Grants

• For artists and others creating new artistic works
• Documentation of local culture

Education In-School Grants

• For schools providing music and art classes as part of school day

Education After-School Grants

• For non-profits presenting after-school and summer educational programs in the arts

Louisiana Cultural Equity Arts Grants

• For Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) creatives
• For BIPOC-led nonprofit organizations in Louisiana
• Added in 2020 to address structural inequities and elevate BIPOC artists

Background:

• Over last 10 years: more than $10 million awarded
• 2021-2022 cycle: $1.2 million awarded to 93% of applicants
• Applications reviewed by committees of Board of Directors and Advisory Council members
• Ranked by score; highest-scoring applications receive largest percentage of requested amount

2. Review Process: Applications reviewed and scored by committees of Board and Advisory Council members
3. Ranking: Applications ranked by score
4. Award Determination: Highest-scoring applications awarded largest percentage of requested amount
5. Notification: Applicants notified once determinations made
