Community Impact Grants

Geographic Scope: Columbus, Ohio area and Israel/Overseas

Program Overview:
The Community Impact Committee (CIC) recommends funding in various categories for new programs and those funded by designated resources, including:

Grant Categories:

• Community Grants
• Jewish Arts
• Jewish Education & Literacy
• Jewish Needs
• Social Justice
• Shalom Grants
• Israel & Overseas Needs
• Israel Environmental Programs
• Holocaust Survivors Initiative
• JCC Jewish Cultural Arts
• Service-area and organization directed programs

Mini-Grants:

Focus: Local programs in the area of Jewish Arts (defined as the art, not the artist)
Requirement: Organization must be planning program more than eight weeks out

Recent Grant Awards (FY23 Implementation):

Total distributed: $554,400

Sample awards:

• Columbus Jewish Day School Community Engagement Grant: $24,000
• Columbus Torah Academy Community Rebuilding and Engagement: $57,000
• Hillel at OSU Birthright: Expanded and Enhanced: $53,500
• JCC in partnership with JewishColumbus Jewish Community Disabilities Inclusion Director: $80,000
• Jewish Family Services Food Support for Victims of Nazi Persecution: $65,000
• Jewish Family Services Trauma and Grief Supports: $50,000
• And 12 additional grants ranging from $5,000-$38,000

Eligibility:

• 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations
• Local and Israel & Overseas organizations

Not Funded:
General operating support for most organizations (core funding is allocated separately to designated "Big Six" agencies)

Community Impact Grants Application Process

Current Status:
FY23 funding process is complete. Limited funding available for mini-grants ($2,500 or less) for Jewish Arts programs.

Mini-Grant Application:

1. Contact JewishColumbus with program details
2. Program must be planned more than eight weeks out
3. Focus: Jewish Arts (the art, not the artist)

Future Funding Cycles:

• Check back in August for information about upcoming fiscal year funding process
• Full applications for new grants and Israel & Overseas programs currently closed
