Community Health Grants
Geographic Scope: Gogebic County, MI and Iron County, WI
Mission: The Gogebic Range Health Foundation advances community health across the Gogebic Range through investing in projects that make a sustainable impact on the community.
Funding Priorities
The Foundation uses a broad definition of health and supports community-based health initiatives that align with the Foundation's mission and vision. Recent priority areas have included:
- Pedestrian walking/biking paths, lanes and trails
- Mountain bike trails and facilities
- Connector trails from neighborhoods and parks to the Iron Belle Trail or the Mercer By Bike regional trail corridors
- Land acquisition with an existing plan for trail development
- Safe Routes to School projects that improve safety of children walking and biking to school
- Youth engagement
- Economic empowerment
- Community food systems
- Fostering connected communities
Eligible Applicants
The GRHF generally makes grants to:
- Tax exempt organizations under 501(c)(3) and organizations that meet the Foundation's mission and vision
- Public agencies including school districts, state, county and city governments
- Organizations and agencies located in the Gogebic Iron Range: Iron County, WI and Gogebic County, MI
What GRHF Does NOT Fund
- For profit organizations
- General operating costs and salaries
- Travel
- Organizations and projects that do not align with mission or priorities
- Individuals, sectarian, religious or political activities/campaigns/causes
- Projects in which the Gogebic Range Health Foundation is the sole or primary funder
- Projects outside of Iron County, WI or Gogebic County, MI
- Events, races, promotions, sponsorships

Background: Founded in 2015, the Foundation has provided nearly $1 million in funding to support programs and partnerships that enhance quality of life across the Gogebic Range. As of January 2025, GRHF has surpassed $1 million in total community giving.

- Review period follows submission
2. Full Application
- Invited applicants submit comprehensive application after LOI review
Match Funding
- A specific percentage match is not required
- Leveraging funds and funding partnerships are reviewed very carefully
- Priority given to projects seeking match funding or gap funds
