Focus Areas:

• Medical mentorship programs
• Public health education
• Programs reaching prospective DO, MD, or PA students
• Support for underrepresented in medicine backgrounds
• Programs serving underserved rural or urban populations
• Undergraduate pre-med/health major support
• Middle and high school student healthcare career encouragement

What They Fund:

• Public health fairs
• Student mentorship programs
• Digital anatomy stations
• Gap-year programs
• Board exam preparation support
• Wellness initiatives
• Diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives

What They Don't Fund:

• Intermediary organizations (preference to work directly with organizations delivering projects)

Eligibility:

• Organizations delivering proposed projects directly
• Projects demonstrating positive and measurable impact for healthcare/medical education in Oregon

Application Timeline:

• Year-round applications accepted
• Funding decisions made approximately April, July, and October
• Early applications encouraged

Award Information:

• Average recent grants: Under $5,000
• Recent awards range from $1,000 to $70,000 (over multiple years)

Application Requirements

Required Materials:

1. Cover letter summarizing your proposal, addressed to the OMEF Board
2. Detailed outline of your program/project including:
   • Specific goals
   • Timeline
   • How you will measure success
   • Quantified anticipated impact on target community
3. Amount requested and proposed use of funding
4. Line-item program budget
5. Summary of other funding sources (including pending requests)
6. Plan for how you propose to recognize OMEF's contribution if granted

Process:

• Submit complete application materials
• If proposal meets current goals, OMEF will contact you for an interview
• Funding decisions made approximately April, July, or October
