Community Grants

Overview: JewishColumbus funds grants in multiple categories through the Community Impact Committee (CIC). Grants are funded by endowments and special purpose funds held at the Columbus Jewish Foundation, a JewishColumbus partner.

Geographic Scope: Columbus, Ohio area and Israel/Overseas programs

Focus Areas:

  • Types of Grants:
    1. Allocations - Core funding for Local Big Six Agencies (Columbus Jewish Day School, Columbus Torah Academy, Jewish Community Center, Jewish Family Services, OSU Hillel, Wexner Heritage Village)
    2. Capital Repair & Replacement - For physical facility improvements
    3. Israel and Overseas Programs - For international Jewish causes
    4. Security Funding - For congregations, schools, JCC sites, and OSU Hillel
    5. Mini-Grants - Up to $2,500 for Jewish Arts programs with 8+ weeks planning

  • Columbus Jewish Day School Community Engagement Grant: $24,000

  • Columbus Torah Academy Community Rebuilding and Engagement: $57,000

  • Hillel at OSU Birthright: Expanded and Enhanced: $53,500

  • JCC in partnership with JewishColumbus Jewish Community Disabilities Inclusion Director: $80,000

  • Jewish Family Services Food Support for Victims of Nazi Persecution: $65,000

  • Jewish Family Services Trauma and Grief Supports: $50,000

  • Jewish Community Center Early Childhood Learning Center Scholarships: $38,000

  • Temple Israel Tikkunapalooza: $5,000
  • Mini-Grant Criteria:

  • Limited funding available

  • For local programs in the area of Jewish Arts (the art, not the artist)

  • Program must be planned more than eight weeks out
  • Status: Main funding applications are currently closed. Limited mini-grant funding available.

    Current Funding Cycle Status: FY23 applications are closed. New funding cycle information typically available in August.

    Mini-Grant Application (Jewish Arts):
    1. Email impact@jewishcolumbus.org with inquiry
    2. Organization must be planning a Jewish arts program more than 8 weeks out
    3. Maximum grant amount: $2,500
    4. Follow instructions provided by JewishColumbus
