Community Foundation of the Virginias Grants

The Community Foundation of the Virginias, Inc. supports philanthropic efforts through grants and scholarships in Mercer County, West Virginia, and Tazewell County, Virginia. Funding is available for non-profit organizations in various categories including Education, Health, Human Services, and the Arts. Eligible applicants must be tax-exempt organizations or public institutions, and must acknowledge the Foundation's support if funded. The Foundation does not fund individual support or ongoing operating expenses.

The Community Foundation of the Virginias, Inc. promotes philanthropy by fostering charitable giving, serving our donors' interests, and effectively responding to the needs and opportunities of communities in Mercer County, West Virginia, Tazewell County, Virginia, and surrounding area.
Through scholarships and grants in the areas of Education; the Arts, Culture and the Humanities; Health; and Human Services, the Community Foundation matches the generosity of the people of our area with the needs of area organizations and individuals.

Eligibility

To be eligible for a grant from Community Foundation of the Virginias, Inc. applicants must be:A non-profit tax-exempt organization under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code or other non-profit as defined by section 501(c), or must be a public institutionApplicants must be located in, or serve Mercer County, West Virginia and/or Tazewell County, Virginia. Applicants must agree to acknowledge the support of the Community Foundation for their project, if their application is approved for grant funding.

Ineligibility

The Foundation does not generally make grants in support of: Individuals (salaries, stipends, etc.)Annual campaigns, endorsement of membership drives, student aid, fellowships, or travelOngoing operating expenses or deficit financingPrivate schools or hospitalsSectarian religious programs, political purposes, or lobbyingNational health and welfare organizationsConsideration for funding will not be given to large projects unless substantial financial support is already in place.
