Community Development Block Grants - Alaska

The Alaska Community Development Block Grant Program provides vital funding for public facilities and planning activities to enhance the health and safety of local communities. With approximately $2.5 million available for competitive grants, the program supports community development, planning, and special economic development activities aimed at job creation for low and moderate-income residents. Non-profits can apply with Alaskan municipal governments, except Anchorage, for grants up to $850,000.

NOTE: Non-profits may apply as a co-applicant with any Alaskan municipal government (except Anchorage).
The goals of the Alaska Community Development Block Grant Program (CDBG) are to provide financial resources to Alaskan communities for public facilities and planning activities which address issues detrimental to the health and safety of local residents and to reduce the costs of essential community services. The program may also fund Special Economic Development activities which result in the creation of jobs for low and moderate income persons.
There are three basic funding categories:

• community development, planning and Special Economic Development.

CDBG programs utilize the resources of the Community Development Block Grant program funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Approximately $2.5 million is available for competitive grants for the Federal Fiscal Year (FFY) cycle.
Funding
CDBG competitive grants are single-purpose project grants; maximum of $850,000 per community.
