Overview
Fact (page-stated): the Community Closet Board of Directors distributes thrift-store profits to charitable activities in Park County, Montana; the organization has donated over $600,000 since 2005. Eligible applicants: non-profit corporations, civic bodies, local governments, school districts and private (non-profit) schools, other groups whose function benefits the Park County community, and religious or fraternal organizations for activities or projects benefiting the general public. Fact: past grants have ranged from $50 to $5,000, with the average being $1,000. Examples of fundable work include recreation scholarships/equipment, community functions, educational programs, youth programs, and support of existing nonprofit organizations or special programs. Not accepted: political organizations, campaigns or candidates; activities outside Park County or without clear Park County benefit; operating budgets for religious or fraternal organizations; past bills such as rent, water or power; and deposits for housing or utilities. Fact: all grant awards require a grant report within six months, and those who have not reported are ineligible for further grants; unused funds must be returned and cannot be rolled to another project without a new successful application.
