Overview

Grants to benefit and continuously invest in the community. The Foundation addresses community needs by supporting nonprofit community organizations throughout Grays Harbor County. Grant applications from all nonprofit organizations that meet the Foundation's priorities and serve local residents are welcomed and encouraged.

Giving Priorities

The Foundation gives high priority to investments that create positive, substantive change and attempt to resolve problems at their source. Funding areas include:

Education and Learning

Programs that fully integrate on-site services of school districts and nonprofit organizations

Tutoring and mentoring programs

Learning efforts designed to reduce the preparation gap

Dropout prevention and reconnection programs

Parent and family involvement in schools

Community Strength and Connection

Efforts to promote and enhance positive self-worth within the community

Career and Skills Development

High quality career and technical education and training

Financial literacy programs

Support systems for first-generation or returning, low-income college students

Literacy programs

Health and Wellness

Programs addressing health disparities or disproportionately affected populations

Teen pregnancy, tobacco, drug, and alcohol abuse prevention

Child abuse and domestic violence prevention

Treatment programs for substance abuse and mental illness

Services for survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence, and child abuse

Healthy lifestyle promotion

Arts, Culture and History

Programs encouraging participation in the arts through schools and community

Programs connecting people to the historical culture of Grays Harbor

Efforts to preserve community landmarks

Basic Needs

Collaboration among food programs

Infrastructure needs of food banks offering nutritious food and clean clothing

Free, culturally appropriate meal programs for children year-round

Efforts to transition people from homelessness
