Community Belonging Fund

Overview: The Community Belonging Fund was launched on January 24, 2025 and provides direct financial support to organizations that deliver critical services to community members facing immigration-related disruptions.

Geographic Scope: Summit County organizations

Focus Areas:

  • Legal Support: Assistance with legal fees and guidance

  • Community Education: Empowering residents and businesses with knowledge of immigrant rights

  • Housing Stability: Ensuring families have secure and stable living conditions

  • Health Services: Access to mental and physical health care

  • Hardship Relief: Addressing immediate basic needs such as food security, childcare, and loss of income due to legal status challenges
  • Eligibility:

  • Community-based organizations that serve immigrant families in Summit County

  • In the initial phase, grants will prioritize organizations addressing immediate needs such as legal support and hardship relief
  • What They Support:

  • Support for families impacted by ICE deportations

  • Services to vulnerable individuals contributing to the local economy and cultural fabric

  • Address critical workforce needs, especially in service and construction sectors
  • What They Don't Fund:

  • Individual grants (supports only organizations that deliver direct aid to families)
  • Grantmaking Process:
    Grantmaking decisions are overseen by a steering committee composed of board members, staff, and community leaders. This team identifies emerging needs, allocates resources, and monitors the impact of funded initiatives. No formal application process currently in place; strategic, phased funding approach.
