Program Description
MHCF accepts applications for grants supporting local nonprofit organizations and local nonprofit or public schools. The 2025 grant cycle awarded $28,000 through multiple grants, with expectation to fund 10-15 unique grants.- Nonprofits: Registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations serving the Morgan Hill Community
- Schools: Local public schools and nonprofit private schools at grade levels K-12 in MHUSD boundaries

Grant Award Criteria
Applications will be evaluated on:- Current projects or activities already underway
- Newly created projects or activities
- School Grants Requirements: - Serve school-wide, grade-level wide, or broad subject matter initiatives (no individual class grants) - Support lifelong learning or life skills initiatives - Not for school infrastructure or basic operating expenses
Eligible Projects
- Individuals (except incidental to deliver community benefit)
- Projects not directly/primarily benefiting Morgan Hill community or local schools
- Private foundations, endowment funds
- Groups/projects discriminating based on age, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status, disability, race, color, religion, national origin, or ancestry
- Political parties, candidates, partisan groups
- Projects outside MHCF Charter or Bylaws scope
- Grants typically not awarded for ongoing/general organization operations
Ineligible Applicants/Projects
- All applications receive prompt review and response
- May be approved for partial funding if project success demonstrated with reduced funds or remainder secured elsewhere
- Multiple applicants can apply for two separate grants if projects differ and fall under different funding areas
- Grant recipients notified in early November
- Publicly announced at Philanthropy Night Celebration on November 14
- Funds distributed in December

Application Process
1. Read all instructions carefully before completing application
2. Complete and submit application form available on MHCF website
3. Address selection criteria in application:
- Demonstrate how use of funds benefits Morgan Hill community or schools
- Highlight organizational operational skill and capability
- Describe administrative capability and ethical fund management processes
- Showcase proven track record of community service
- Identify other funding sources if grant doesn't fully fund project
- Explain project viability with partial funding or identify other funding sources
4. Project Requirements:
- Must directly provide services, support, enrich, or benefit Morgan Hill community
- Should fall into one of six funding categories listed
- Must be specific projects (not general operating expenses)
5. School Grant Additional Requirements:
- Must be school-wide, grade-level wide, or broad subject matter initiative
- Must support lifelong learning or life skills initiatives
- Cannot be for school infrastructure or basic operating expenses
6. Multiple Applications:
- Nonprofits may apply for two separate grants if projects are different and fall under different funding areas
7. Review Process:
- MHCF board determines grant amounts based on available funds and priority of community need
- Community Advisory Committee provides guidance and recommendations
- May consider partial funding with demonstrated project success or secured alternative funding
8. Timeline:
- Deadline: October 19
- Recipient notification: Early November
- Public announcement: November 14 (Philanthropy Night Celebration)
