Overview

Community Action Garden Program

Overview: The Community Action Garden Program is designed to encourage self-support by providing low-income households with essential materials to start growing a vegetable garden.

Award: Eligible program participants receive a $25 voucher from Community Action of Southern Kentucky, Inc.

Eligible Uses: The voucher can be used to purchase:

  • Garden seeds

  • Garden plants

  • Fertilizers
  • Availability: April to June (annual)

    Geographic Scope: Ten counties served by Community Action of Southern Kentucky:

  • Allen

  • Barren

  • Butler

  • Edmonson

  • Hart

  • Logan

  • Metcalfe

  • Monroe

  • Simpson

  • Warren
    • Eligibility Requirements

    • Must be a low-income household
    • Must have household income verified
    • Income verification required for all household members
    • Must be willing to participate in follow-up evaluation related to garden productivity

      Gardening Options

    • Gardens can be grown for household consumption
    • Gardens can be grown for revenue generation
