Commercial & Industrial Lighting Program

Funder: South Central Power Company

Geographic Scope: South Central Power Company service territory (Ohio)

Eligibility:

  • Commercial and industrial business facilities only

  • Must be a member of South Central Power Company

  • Facility lighting must be used a minimum of 1,800 hours per year

  • Existing equipment must be operational at time of pre-approval application
  • Eligible Projects:

  • Retrofit lighting installations at existing facilities

  • Technology upgrades (e.g., incandescent to CFL; fluorescent to LED)

  • Installation of LED lighting in existing facilities
  • Not Eligible:

  • Installation of additional lighting in existing facility

  • Re-lamping to lower wattage of same bulb type (without technology upgrade)

  • Used or rebuilt equipment

  • Projects installed prior to June 30, 2025
  • Rebate Details:

  • Calculation: $1 per watt reduced (based on lamp wattages, not fixture wattages)

  • Maximum: 50% of project cost (excluding labor), up to $25,000 per project

  • One-time offer per facility per fiscal year (July 1 – June 30)

  • Cannot be combined with other incentive payments or programs

  • Rebate may be issued as bill credit
  • Program Timeline: July 1, 2025 to June 15, 2026

  • How to Apply

    Application Process

    1. Pre-Approval (Required before installation):
    - Complete the C&I Custom Lighting Rebate application (PDF format)
    - Submit via email to Key Accounts department
    - Application must have complete information to be considered
    - Upon approval, project work can begin

    2. Project Completion:
    - Complete lighting retrofit project between July 1, 2025 and June 15, 2026
    - Existing equipment must be removed or permanently disconnected
    - All equipment must be new (no used or rebuilt equipment)
    - All projects must comply with applicable federal, state, and local laws and building codes

    3. Post-Installation Verification:
    - South Central Power Company performs on-site visit to verify installation
    - Confirmation must match documentation submitted

    4. Rebate Payment:
    - Rebate paid to participating member business only
    - No payments to third-party vendors, contractors, installers, or consultants
    - May be issued as bill credit

    Project Cost Calculation

    For retrofit projects: Includes lamps, fixtures, wiring, and ballasts (labor/installation excluded)

    For existing facility LED installation: Includes LED lamps, fixtures, and ballasts (labor/installation excluded)
