Combined Pilot Research Grants: AAPPS/PSF

The Combined Pilot Research Grants by the AAPPS and PSF aim to promote innovative research in pediatric plastic surgery and hand surgery. With funding up to $15,000 for one-year pilot projects, these grants support the development of surgeon scientists and encourage applications that will enhance the scientific understanding and improve care for children with deformities requiring reconstructive surgery. This initiative fosters collaboration among various subspecialty organizations dedicated to advancing surgical research.

The PSF, along with the AAHS, AAPPS, AAPS, ACAPS, ASMS, ASPN, ASRM, CSPS and PSRC, recognizes the importance of promoting innovative research in hand surgery, academic plastic surgery related to research, peripheral nerve research, microsurgery and stimulating fundamental research in plastic surgery. Together, these subspecialty organizations are dedicated to fostering the development of surgeon scientists and are committed to increasing the amount of research dollars, in order to fund pilot research studies that set the stage for investigators to apply to larger funding agencies.
The Plastic Surgery Foundation (PSF) and the American Association of Pediatric Plastic Surgeons (AAPPS) recognize the importance of fostering the development of surgeon scientists and innovative research in pediatric plastic surgery is intended to fund a research project that will advance the scientific knowledge of pediatric plastic surgery and to improve the care of children with deformities requiring reconstructive plastic surgery. This grant supports the preliminary or pilot phase of these research projects.

Eligibility

Applicants must:be a MD, DO, or PhD
hold a full-time clinical or research position in a U.S. or Canadian Institution where the research will be conducted.
be an Active AAPPS member or have a Co-PI who is an Active member of AAPPS.If you are not an Active AAPPS member or do not have a Co-PI, you must obtain a Sponsor letter from an Active AAPPS member at your institution.If you are currently in your training, you must obtain a Sponsor letter from an Active AAPPS member at your institution.
