College Scholarships

Funder: Tryon Riding & Hunt Club Inc (TRHC)

Program Overview:
TRHC supports local young equestrians in their educational pursuits through college scholarships. This is a long-standing tradition consistent with the Club's core values of philanthropy and service to the community while preserving and enhancing its equestrian heritage.

    Award Details

  • Amount: At least $500 per award; total of $10,000 awarded in 2025
  • Award Distribution: Payment made directly to the recipient's school
  • Award Announcement: Awards announced in June

    Eligibility

  • Students: Graduating high school seniors and currently enrolled college/university students
  • Geographic Area: Students living in Polk, Henderson, Rutherford, Spartanburg, or Greenville counties
  • Preference: Given to those graduating from high school
  • Ineligible: Applicants may NOT be related to any current member of the TR&HC Board of Directors or employed by TR&HC

    Selection Criteria

  • Priority: Students with ties to the equestrian industry or sport in the area, or members of recognized local or national equestrian organizations
  • Consideration: Financial need will also be a consideration
  • Additional Requirements: A financial need statement and interview may be requested

    Post-Award Requirements

  • Photo and media release required
  • Verification of school enrollment required
  • Scholarship recipients may be requested to volunteer at a TR&HC event

Application Process

Submission Deadline: May 15 annually

Eligible Applicants:

  • Graduating high school seniors

  • Currently enrolled college/university students

  • Must reside in Polk, Henderson, Rutherford, Spartanburg, or Greenville counties
  • Required Materials:

  • Completed application form (available for download)

  • Financial need statement

  • Possible interview (may be requested)
  • Post-Award Requirements:

  • Photo and media release
