Overview

Collaborative SCFD K-12 Grant

Purpose: Created for interdisciplinary teaching teams to connect cultural organizations to their K-12 classrooms.

Geographic Scope: K-12 public and charter schools located in Adams, Arapahoe, Broomfield, Boulder, Denver, Douglas, and Jefferson Counties (7-SCFD counties). Cities of Castle Rock and Larkspur have opted out and are ineligible.

Award Details:

  • Amount: Awards vary between $2,000-$8,000 (not a cash grant)

  • Program Coordinator Responsibility: The Collaborative's Program Coordinator handles all budgeting and makes direct payments to eligible organizations

  • Approval: Amount and eligible organizations subject to final Board approval in September of each year

  • Award Period: One year (September 2026 - August 2027)
  • Funding Source: SCFD sales and use tax from Full Member Level organizations

    Focus Areas:

  • Curriculum-based arts, cultural, and scientific programs

  • In-school workshops, assemblies, field trips, in-school exhibits, virtual programming

  • Professional development opportunities for teachers
  • Eligibility Requirements:

  • K-12 public and charter schools in the 7-SCFD counties

  • School must be in operation for 3+ years before applying

  • Past grant recipients must wait 4 years before applying again

  • Team must include 3-5 teachers with interdisciplinary representation (Science, Social Science, Language Arts, Visual Arts, Music, Theatre, Dance, and/or other subject areas)

  • Instructional Coaches, Teacher Librarians, and Social Emotional Learning Specialists welcome on team

  • One Lead Teacher designated as liaison

  • Serve a cohort of up to 180 students from one or two grade levels

  • Attend four 1-hour meetings plus 2-hour Kick-Off Orientation in July/August

  • Majority of planning occurs in August-December
  • What Grants Support:

  • About 10-15+ programs per school year (combination of workshops, assemblies, performances, exhibits, virtual learning, field trips, professional development)

  • Up to $225 per bus reimbursement (up to 3 buses per field trip)

  • Up to $150 substitute teacher reimbursement per team member

  • Lead Teacher receives small stipend for coordination

    Timeline:

  • Application Opens: Wednesday, February 11, 2026

  • Application Deadline: Wednesday, April 8, 2026 at 5:00 pm MST

  • Semi-Finalist Phone Interviews: April 27/28 and May 7/8, 2026

  • Finalist Notifications: May 11, 2026
  • Before Applying:
    1. Read grant guidelines and requirements
    2. Choose a Lead Teacher for your team (typically the grant applicant)
    3. Inform your Principal of your application and ask if school has applied for other grants
    4. Collect names, disciplines, email, and phone numbers from each team member
    5. Gather a brief statement from each teacher regarding programs they're interested in from the eligible grant contributors list
    6. Get team input on why the school should receive the grant
    7. Select a cohort of up to 180 students from one or two grade levels
    8. Application takes approximately 30 minutes or less to complete

    Important Application Tips:

  • Start with a freshly opened browser or refresh the link before beginning

  • Browsers time out at about 30 minutes of inactivity

  • If the tab is open longer than 30 minutes, you risk losing work even if it appears submitted

  • Use the save button to send yourself a link and return later if needed

  • Save essay answers on a separate document as backup

  • You should receive a confirmation email upon successful submission
