Note: The Cloudsplitter Foundation's grants committee meets 3 times a year in February, June and October, and grant requests are considered if they are received by 5 PM on the 1st of the month before the meeting. About Cloudsplitter Foundation The Cloudsplitter Foundation was originally a family foundation, established as the Keet Family Foundation 501c3 charity in 1986. The foundation was re-domiciled to New York in 1999 and in 2014 we became the Cloudsplitter Foundation. Over our 40+ year history, the foundation has maintained an Adirondack focus. We have always maintained close relationships with our communities and have worked to stay connected to the important institutions that make the Adirondacks so great. Through our strategic giving, we have also worked to promote public support and support from other foundations of these partners. We have also always looked upstream, with support that helps support innovative strategies with broad impact and long-term staying power. The Cloudsplitter Foundation is dedicated to improving the environment, economies, and lives of the people of the Adirondacks through innovative and leveraged philanthropic programs. Strategic Philanthropy We value measurable long-term impacts, especially those that are financially, socially and/or politically leveraged We want to provide more than just money to partners: Local knowledge Networking Strategy Capacity building Connections with the wider region and NYS Data We pride ourselves on our thought partnership and are willing to fund new initiatives and innovative pilots We love to work in tandem with other grant-makers (e.g., Funders for the Adirondacks) We can use our voice to elevate the needs of our region beyond the boundaries of the blue line Unrestricted Support Grants These grants support a not-for-profit’s operating costs and not specific projects or programs. Eligible grantees must meet the Cloudsplitter Foundation’s strategic objectives. Unrestricted support grants are limited to $5,000 per year. These grants generally go to organizations that Cloudsplitter has an established relationship with. Unrestricted Support grants are considered during our regular grant rounds.

Ineligibility

Grant applicants that there is a LOWER LIKELIHOOD that we will be funding, at this time: Capital Projects Lakes Associations Events Unrestricted support amounting to more than 5% of the organization’s annual operating budget Very Large grant requestsGrant applicants that we will NOT be accepting or funding at this time Asks of more than 20% of the project budget Requests from “For Profit” Businesses Requests from organizations without multiple funding sources Unrestricted Grant applications from religious institutions Endowment expansion campaigns Grant applications above $50,000 that have not made INITIAL CONTACT (before application is submitted).
