Purpose
The Clinical Event Debriefing (CED) Program is designed to enhance patient care and team performance by equipping healthcare professionals and organizations with framework and techniques to conduct meaningful and effective debriefings after clinical events. Successful completion will allow for the identification of strengths and opportunities for improved clinical performance and pediatric care.Geographic Scope

Eligible Participants
- Team Organization: Teams organized by institutional departments with maximum 40 participants per application
- Team Leadership Requirements: - At least one physician site lead (required) - Option to include one additional physician leader - Option to include one non-physician leader
- Program Components: - AAP Collaborative Site access for educational materials and literature resources - QIDA (Quality Improvement Data Aggregator) access for data collection and analysis - Three quarters of debriefing and data collection to identify trends and opportunities for improvement - Three quarters of mentorship to refine debriefing techniques and implement debriefing regularly
Program Structure
- Identify specific type(s) of clinical events that will trigger conducting CEDs
- Strategize the logistics of conducting CEDs and identify challenges
- Review educational materials on conducting CEDs in clinical settings
- Use the Quality Improvement Data Aggregator (QIDA) to collect CED data
- Review data collected from QIDA and delineate and implement SMART aims with experts in the field

Program Cost
$2,000 per team for the full 12-month programRefund Policy: Due to the nature of this program and resources involved, refunds will not be issued for non-attendance of the program.
- Physicians: Up to 25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™ for CME; up to 25 AAP credits; up to 25 MOC Part 4 points through American Board of Pediatrics (ABP)
- Physician Assistants: Maximum 25 Category 1 credits (NCCPA accepts AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™)
- Nurse Practitioners: 25 NAPNAP CE contact hours (with 0 hours pharmacology content, 0 hours controlled substances)
- Registered Nurses: 25 contact hours (California Board of Registered Nursing approved, Provider Number 18014)
