Clean Water Fund

Status: Active (2020 fund; part of ongoing Passion Grants program)

Geographic Scope: Lancaster County, PA

Focus Areas:

  • Overview:
    The Clean Water Fund will enable local partners to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of water restoration projects using technology, cultural sensitivity, and science-based practices. The goal is to get Lancaster County's streams to clean and clear in a generation.

    Community Need:

  • Over half of Lancaster County's 1,400 miles of streams are not healthy

  • Much of the groundwater is unhealthy

  • Clean water is a priority for partners across all of Lancaster County
  • Approach:

  • Collaborative effort with a group of partners ready to work across the landscape

  • Focus on restoration projects in priority places

  • Science-based practices

  • Technology and cultural sensitivity integrated into projects

    Managed in collaboration with Lancaster Clean Water Partners, a coalition working to provide clean and clear local waterways.
